WATCH: GOP Candidate Links Democratic Congressman, President Obama To Rob Ford

Republican congressional candidate George Demos is drawing early attention to what will likely be one of the tightest 2014 House races in the country, with a new ad comparing six-term incumbent Rep. Tim Bishop (D-NY) and President Barack Obama to Toronto mayor Rob Ford.

“Tired of politicians?” the ad’s narrator asks, as images of Bishop, Obama, and Ford appear on screen. “Then look at George Demos. He’s not a politician. George Demos knows the good guys from the bad.”

The comparison between Ford — the embattled Canadian mayor who admitted to smoking crack cocaine while in “one of my drunken stupors” — and Bishop, a mild-mannered former provost of Southampton College, may strike the voters of New York’s 1st Congressional District as a stretch. It should help Demos raise his profile, however. The former Securities and Exchange Commission prosecutor struggled to gain traction in 2010 and 2012, when he tried and failed to win the Republican nomination in NY-1.

Demos is running against State Senator Lee Zeldin for the Republican nomination in 2014, and whichever candidate wins should give Bishop a very competitive race. In 2012, Bishop defeated Republican opponent Randy Altschuler in a tight 52 to 48 percent contest, and President Obama won Bishop’s district by less than 1 percent. The National Republican Campaign Commission has already begun attacking Bishop, who is widely considered to be among the more vulnerable Democratic incumbents in the country.

Marjorie Taylor Mouth Makes Another Empty Threat

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene

I’m absolutely double-positive it won’t surprise you to learn that America’s favorite poster-person for bluster, blowhardiness and bong-bouncy-bunk went on Fox News on Sunday and made a threat. Amazingly, she didn’t threaten to expose alleged corruption by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy by quoting a Russian think-tank bot-factory known as Strategic Culture Foundation, as she did last November. Rather, the Congressperson from North Georgia made her eleventy-zillionth threat to oust the Speaker of the House from her own party, Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA), using the Motion to Vacate she filed last month. She told Fox viewers she wanted to return to her House district to “listen to voters” before acting, however.

Trump Campaign Gives Access To Far-Right Media But Shuns Mainstream Press

Trump campaign press pass brandished on air by QAnon podcaster Brenden Dilley

Trump's Hour On CNN Was A Profile In Cowardice

Vanity Fair recently reported that several journalists from mainstream publications, including The Washington Post, NBC News, Axios, and Vanity Fair, were denied press access to Trump’s campaign events, seemingly in retaliation for their previous critical coverage. Meanwhile, Media Matters found that the campaign has granted press credentials to the QAnon-promoting MG Show and Brenden Dilley, a podcaster who has promoted the QAnon conspiracy theory and leads a “meme team” that creates pro-Trump content.
